Landing On 9
by Greg Prince on 20 September 2007 5:11 am
It was 9 years ago that the Mets last called Channel 9 home. It has taken what seems like 9 eons to push the magic number down to 9, but with…WHO?…Yadier Molina driving in the winning run, the Cardinals beat the Phillies and the numeral of numerals dropped to your place for Joe Franklin, The Million Dollar Movie, Bowling For Dollars, The Noon News With Tom Dunn and, eternally in our heart of broadcast hearts, New York Mets baseball.

How could you leave off Lloyd Lindsey Young?
HELLLLLLLLLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
MEEETTTTFAAAAAAAAAAAAANNNNNNNNSSSSSSSSS!
Lloyd Lindsey Young on Channel 9? That guy cost us the division in 1984!
We had beaten the Cubs on friday night and leading 3-0 the next afternoon when, after a commercial break, there appears Lloyd Lindsey Young, his face staring dead-pan straight into the camera. After that, Rusty Staub is robbed of a bases loaded hit, the Cubs come back to win, and we never were as close to first place after that.
Silly me! And here I thought Rick F. Sutcliffe & Ryne Sandberg were the reasons all these years…
Naw, sometimes things are controlled by the powers above, or in this case, the television booth just above the loge level.
LOL!
And it's taken me 9 years to stop going to Channel 9 for Mets games…
I left off Romper Room, too…which is where Lloyd Lindsey Young belonged.
you mean, you've stopped?
