At Citi Field Friday night, Foreigner played “Urgent,” and Sandy Alderson woke up to contradict that characterization of the Mets’ situation, calling it “inaccurate…we’d say our plan is proceeding right on schedule.”
Foreigner played “Waiting For A Girl Like You,” and a Mets marketing department representative contacted 40,000 girls like her and asked them to please vote for David Wright to start the All-Star Game over Pablo Sandoval.
Foreigner played “Feels Like The First Time,” and Elias sent word that, no, technically it was the umpteenth time the Mets lost listlessly in 2013 — and that it actually felt like the eleventy-billionth time.
Foreigner played “Cold As Ice,” with John Buck, Jordany Valdespin and Justin Turner singing harmony.
Foreigner played “Double Vision,” and the Mets added a second set of convenience fees to all tickets.
Foreigner played “Juke Box Hero,” and Terry Collins ordered Scott Rice to warm up, just out of habit.
Foreigner played “Hot Blooded,” and nearly 3,000 miles away, Wally Backman suggested he knew the cure for hot blood, causing an unnamed Mets official to roll his eyes, shake his head and vehemently deny that anybody in the Mets organization knows how to fix anything.
Foreigner played “I Want To Know What Love Is,” and Shaun Marcum remained baffled as to what wins are.
The fact that the “Mets organization” was ruffled that Wally said he could fix Davis is the perfect illustration of their losing culture. The Mets never fix anybody…they just make them worse until they are vilified by the fans. Did you know that Oliver Perez has a 1.11 ERA, got a save last night and may be the best lefty specialist in the AL?
It will not change until new ownership comes in. Anything Met fans can do to hasten this is needed. Boycott as much as possible…do not buy every over-priced alternate jersey, all-star jersey, cap and other stuff MLB sells. That gives them free advertising. Don’t buy anymore ticket packs in March…if you must go to see this, buy cheap stubhub seats. This team is two games behind the pace of the 1979 Mets, generally acknowledged as the franchise low-point.
Good thing George Jones wasn’t there too.
What, no “Blue Morning, Blue Day”???
Foreigner left “Blue Morning, Blue Day” off their set list, figuring, perhaps, the last thing we needed when the concert was over was to be cast into the Midnight Blue.
Hi Greg,
Wonder how many of the 32,000 came to see Foreigner than the Mets?
Also, Sandy Alderson says we are right on schedule with his rebuilding plan? In 2011 he already had the young arms in the minors working their way up, so many with promise but now he tells us the system is barren of big hitting prospects. So only now has he started drafting position players? And mostly from high school? That’s going to be at least three more years until we see any of Nimmos, Smiths, etc.
By my count, that is a seven year stretch until we start seeing the results.
The young arms that are just about ready are going to have to suffer with no hitting support like the young arms mostly already in place. It has already been the time to get the hitting support more than “what outfield?”. Now, we have to wait four more years to see the first steps in the majors?
What type of plan is that?
No gm in any major sport deserves that much time, Joe. Sandy isn’t so dandy.
