Greg Prince and Jason Fry
Faith and Fear in Flushing made its debut on Feb. 16, 2005, the brainchild of two longtime friends and lifelong Met fans.

Greg Prince discovered the Mets when he was 6, during the magical summer of 1969. He is a Long Island-based writer, editor and communications consultant. Contact him here.

Jason Fry is a Brooklyn writer whose first memories include his mom leaping up and down cheering for Rusty Staub. Check out his other writing here.

Seaver Speaks

Monday night at 9, Tom Seaver is Bob Costas’s guest on MLB Network’s Studio 42. That’s an hour of Tom Seaver being interviewed about pitching…his own included, presumably. That looms as the best hour a Mets fan will have all December.

    Let’s have an over or under pool on how many times he says “etcetra etcetra”. I’ve got 41, on a hunch….

    Why would the Mets RAISE SPRING TRAINING TICKET PRICES when they are cutting the payroll to the bone and putting a Double A team on the field this year?

    Do they think Florida is in a different country or just that the people who live there are stupid and haven’t figured out that the Mets are PUNTING for the 2012 season!

    Now that I’ve watched this MLB Network show, I’ve learned this sometimes haughty perfectionist, this artisan, this craftsman George Thomas Seaver also gets emotional at seeing or reliving some of his old successes.

    It’s reassuring to see he’s human too, so I can reaffirm his status as my most favorite Met ever.

    What a great interview! As Will said, he was very emotional. It broke my heart when he spoke of M Donald Grant calling him a communist for wanting to be part of the Greenwich country club. I gather Grant was a member. Watching him at his press conference when he got traded took me aback – the emotion – wow!

    I love listening to Tom talk about pitching and got hysterical as he was getting upset as Costas asked him how he felt about Kernshaw (and other pitchers) not finishing games -especially when they were dominating!

    How about “Horse” or “Ace” or how about “Franchise” rather than Stud Muffin?
