What the Button Said

Grant would be gone not all that long after June 15, 1977. And Tom would be remembered always. Saving our Mets, however, would take a while.

I remember going to a Jets game at Shea in late Oct. of '77 vs. (I think) the Raiders. Pat Leahy missed a PAT & a field goal & the Jets lost by 1.
As we were filing out, my Dad says, “After today, they're gonna dig 2 graves in the parking lot: 1 for Leahy & 1 for Grant…”

Got a huge Mets button collection, so I have that one. Also have a related button that says ” I was a believer, but now we've lost Seaver ” ……………………………………
