Jose! No Way We'll Play Jose! Oy Vey! Oy Vey!

Andrew Vazzano at The 'Ropolitans passes along informed Tweets that Jose Reyes has been diagnosed with a tear in his right hamstring tendon. That means Reyes must rest and that he won't be playing for the Mets 'til at least after the All-Star break. In Metsdom, that could mean mid-July or it could mean a season to be named later. “Clearly,” Adam Rubin adds, “Reyes will not return very soon.”

That's not good. That's not good at all. In fact, I'd say we're kind of screwed for the foreseeable future.

And I went ahead and bought the out of market MLB package this year. Ugh.

I mustered all all my eloquence and succinctity (?) for that post.

    Hi Greg,
Does this mean you were ill-informed when contradicting Mike Francesca and now agree with his prediction of doom and gloom? Well, quoting the great Joe E. Brown “nobody's perfect”.
But we must remember that Jose wasn't contributing much to the Met cause so far this season (in fact, more than once his lax play cost us a game) so in the interim I think Alex Cora will be a decent replacement and might give us an indication of how truely valuable Reyes is to this club (again, based upon his current performance and those down the stretch the last two seasons).
I think we're in more trouble knowing the reason why J.J. Putz wasn't working out as a set-up man and that he now requires surgery.

    Joe,
If Francesa had Reyes' state before the MRI did then let's all be examined by Dr. Pompous. I was more willing to believe Jerry Manuel on Thursday.

    Greg,
Not that I don't trust Jerry, but if I ever had the need to receive sudden medical attention, I'm just hoping it won't be when I'm at Citifield. Reyes, Putz, Martinez, Delgado, Cora, Perez – they got every medical report wrong. And of course, last year, Church was just a day to day thing.

If you're feeling woozy, don't let the Mets fly you to Colorado. That would be the first step to staying alive.
