Greg Prince and Jason Fry
Faith and Fear in Flushing made its debut on Feb. 16, 2005, the brainchild of two longtime friends and lifelong Met fans.

Greg Prince discovered the Mets when he was 6, during the magical summer of 1969. He is a Long Island-based writer, editor and communications consultant. Contact him here.

Jason Fry is a Brooklyn writer whose first memories include his mom leaping up and down cheering for Rusty Staub. Check out his other writing here.

Mets Yearbook: 1969

SNY is breaking out the good stuff, Thursday night at 6:30. It’s the return of Mets Yearbook, and the edition they’re opening is 1969.

Is there anything else you need to know? I don’t think so.

    I have every Mets yearbook, my grandfather left them for me, my prize possessions.

    You may or may not believe it, but I am (well, was…) the young boy on the cover holding up his helmet. It was helmet day ’68 (I think it was against the dodgers, but not sure) and a man kept asking me to hold the helmet high. Only several years later did it all dawn on me. It was hard to believe the luck and perhaps that’s the luckiest moment I’ve ever had – even if it remained in anonymity! I wrote Shea about this once awhile ago, though I received no reply, sadly… Hey, my head is at least as big as Koos-Seaver-Grote!
