Oh, So It's the Era's Fault

Mark McGwire says he wishes he didn’t play in the Steroid Era. I have the same wish to a certain degree. From 1997 to 2001, McGwire hit 13 home runs against the Mets, batting .280 and getting on base in almost 39% of his plate appearances. Beating the Cardinals on any given day or night […]

The Age of Piazza

Matt Lawton hit 3 home runs during his brief 2001 term as a Met, each of them prior to the bottom of the eighth of the game of September 21, an inning he happened to lead off by grounding out to Braves shortstop Rey Sanchez. Edgardo Alfonzo swatted 15 from Opening Day until he was […]

Not a purse, not a man purse. A shoulder bag I guess you’d call it. An overnight bag […]

Holding Back The Years

Welcome to Flashback Friday, a weekly feature devoted to the 20th anniversary of the 1986 World Champion New York Mets.

Twenty years, 43 Fridays. This is one of them…sort of.

So I’m sitting here sorting through more 1986 memories. Just like that, it’s 27 Fridays down and only 16 Flashbacks to go. So much Baseball Like […]
