ABOUT US
Faith and Fear in Flushing made its debut on Feb. 16, 2005, the brainchild of two longtime friends and lifelong Met fans.
Greg Prince discovered the Mets when he was 6, during the magical summer of 1969. He is a Long Island-based writer, editor and communications consultant. Contact him here.
Jason Fry is a Brooklyn writer whose first memories include his mom leaping up and down cheering for Rusty Staub. Check out his other writing here.

In what I suppose one could say is a sign of relative normalcy, I’m disgusted by the Mets and want them to go away.
No! Not really go away! But … well, sort of. Because I was so happy to have three hours of solace a night, and instead the last two nights the Mets have […]

The saving grace of a season’s first loss, particularly if it follows the euphoria of a season’s first win, is its inevitability. It was gonna happen sooner or later. Get this unpleasant slice of reality over with since you know darn well you have to and move on. But don’t get it over with the […]

The Mets finally got to play baseball Friday afternoon, and while no one can say what the next week or even the next day will bring, getting to play baseball was a much-needed respite and relief.
It was also a pretty damn good baseball game, one with exactly the right amount of tension — some thrills […]

Outside it’s cold, misty, and it’s raining. We’ve got a FanFest; who right here’s complaining? Not anybody who thinks it’s sexy that the Mets opened Citi Field on the last Saturday in January for as much baseball as they could possibly produce without benefit of a baseball game.
It was the first hopefully annual FanFest in […]

Another year in the books! Another decade in the books! And another class of matriculating Mets to welcome to The Holy Books!
Background: I have a trio of binders, long ago dubbed The Holy Books (THB) by Greg, that contain a baseball card for every Met on the all-time roster. They’re in order of arrival in […]

Welcome to the third chapter of Faith and Fear’s countdown of The Top 100 Mets of the 2010s. An introduction to the series is available here; you can read the most recent installment here. These are the more or less best Mets we rooted for as Mets fans these past ten years. Since a decade […]

You know all those games that got away that have been stewed over in the wake of the 2019 Mets’ elimination from playoff contention? I don’t care for such mulling. Yes, had Edwin Diaz resembled his Seattle self more than he did the reincarnation of Manny Acosta, that’s ‘x’ number of saves that probably wouldn’t […]

There was a clinching at Citi Field on Monday night. Nothing involving a Wild Card, except for the Mets assuring themselves at least one more evening keeping time at the pennant race party. Nothing definitive for the previously surging Diamondbacks, either, except for confirming our suspicions that Wilmer Flores would make us remember him at […]

How would you describe Friday night’s Mets game? Thrilling? Reaffirming? Anxious? Horrifying?
Maybe all of the above?
I spent most of the evening not knowing what to think, with good and bad arriving one after the other.
For openers, I wondered when I started trusting Steven Matz. Matz hasn’t had a bad outing in more than a month, […]

On a scale of 1 to 10, Tuesday night’s inarguably epic Mets defeat at Washington, in which for the first time in their history they gave up a ninth-inning lead of six runs to lose ASAP, was a Brian Jordan. The second Brian Jordan Game, to be exact, September 29, 2001, Mets leading the Braves, […]
