Faith and Fear in Flushing made its debut on Feb. 16, 2005, the brainchild of two longtime friends and lifelong Met fans.

Jason Fry is a Brooklyn writer whose first memories include his mom leaping up and down cheering for Rusty Staub. Check out his other writing here.

Welcome to the second installment of MY FAVORITE MET SEASONS, FROM LEAST FAVORITE TO MOST FAVORITE, 1969-PRESENT, a continuation of the project I introduced on my birthday. The ten seasons spotlighted below I liked a little more than the dozen I counted down on December 31, not as much as the thirty-three that are still […]

Elton John’s “Levon” was “born a pauper to a pawn on a Christmas Day when the New York Times said, ‘God is dead, and the war’s begun.’” What exactly does that mean? When I turned 45
It seemed a very good year
To’ve been a lifetime Believer
When I turned 47
It seemed a very good year
To be an upward glove-heaver
Today I turn 51
Is it a very good year?
Or a take-it-or-leaver?
51 they give coaches — none who’s fixed Ike
51 […]

Welcome to The Happiest Recap, a solid gold slate of New York Mets games culled from every schedule the Mets have ever played en route to this, their fiftieth year in baseball. We’ve created a dream season that includes the “best” 136th game in any Mets season, the “best” 137th game in any Mets season, […]

I’m very happy David Wright launched a three-run homer to give the Mets an immediate lead in Washington. I’m very happy David can now say he’s homered at Nationals Park, the last N.L. holdout where his slugging was concerned (he’s homered in all the other Senior Circuit ballparks — even Citi Field).
I’m very happy Nick […]
