ABOUT US
Faith and Fear in Flushing made its debut on Feb. 16, 2005, the brainchild of two longtime friends and lifelong Met fans.
Greg Prince discovered the Mets when he was 6, during the magical summer of 1969. He is a Long Island-based writer, editor and communications consultant. Contact him here.
Jason Fry is a Brooklyn writer whose first memories include his mom leaping up and down cheering for Rusty Staub. Check out his other writing here.

You know that Toshiba ad where they ship the laptop without the shock-resistant hard drive, and there’s a nationwide power outage and a guy drinks bad milk and turns into a zombie and bites his roommate and then there are zombies everywhere? (You’re a Mets fan, you have to know it.) I imagine Major League […]

I’ve been watching the reading of names at the Ground Zero memorial. What gets me, besides the cruel endlessness of the list and the heartbreaking personal codas family members send skyward to those they lost, is the sheer randomness of it. People who happened to be in the wrongest place at the wrongest time — […]

I wanted Carlos Beltran to insist that he was in one of the better shapes of his life, certainly the best of the past few years of his life. “Best shape of my life” would have been too clichéd and beyond credulity. We saw Carlos Beltran when his shape was indisputably spectacular. I would have […]

Update: Audio! Now you can say TLDL instead of TLDR!
Thought I’d post what I read at Varsity Letters’ fifth-anniversary shindig last week, for posterity but mostly because it’s a reflection on a Mets game we’d be better off to recall more often, particularly in these trying days. Odds are you’ll recognize it at once — […]

SHEA STADIUM
FLUSHING, NEW YORK
GARY COHEN
The last of the ninth inning in the final regular-season game of the year. The Mets and Pirates locked in a one-one duel. The Mets needing a win to guarantee there will be a tomorrow.
Greg Hansell, a well-traveled twenty-eight year-old righthander, will pitch the bottom of the ninth […]
