Zombie Apocalypse

We want the Mets to get up now…

“I just kind of felt dead tonight,” said Dillon Gee after losing to the Yankees, 4-2.

Didn’t we all inside? Didn’t everybody in a Mets uniform, with the possible exception of provisional savior Omar Quintanilla, look like Dillon felt?

Enough playing dead. Rise from the dead already.

It’s Sunday. It’s as […]

R.A. to the Rescue

I’m off to Red Sox country for my 25th high-school reunion tomorrow, so today’s game was a radio affair while working, with Howie and Josh painting the word picture from their perch in the ionosphere above Nationals Park. With R.A. Dickey on the mound, the game passed by like the cool breeze from an ambling, […]

Debacle-icious

That description suited the Nationals somewhat more than it did the Mets, as the two clubs bashed away at each other spastically, exchanging errors and […]

The Citi Field 100th Episode Spectacular

Not this time, though. Not when I saw my 100th game at […]

Oh, And The Mets Lost

Some Metsian bookkeeping from Memorial Day 2012, when the caps were ugly and Jon Niese didn’t look much better:

• Jack Egbert, a righthanded reliever with a last name reminiscent of a weird comic I recall from my childhood (all the single-panel action took place in utero), pitched two-thirds of the ninth inning, making him the […]

Turn the Mets Around

The Mets are only enlisting a “turnaround consultant” now? Where was this service in September 2007? August 2002? May 1993? June 1977? The Mets have definitely been in need of a few sharp 180s in their storied history. You’d figure they’d have a “turnaround consultant” on call 24/7.

The “turnaround” in question isn’t directly baseball-related, though […]
