ABOUT US

Greg Prince and Jason Fry
Faith and Fear in Flushing made its debut on Feb. 16, 2005, the brainchild of two longtime friends and lifelong Met fans.

Greg Prince discovered the Mets when he was 6, during the magical summer of 1969. He is a Long Island-based writer, editor and communications consultant. Contact him here.

Jason Fry is a Brooklyn writer whose first memories include his mom leaping up and down cheering for Rusty Staub. Check out his other writing here.

Sitting in the Car with Tom and Howie

If Metsian memories are building from a trickle to a flood, then it must be Flashback Friday at Faith and Fear in Flushing.

I’m unreasonably loyal to inanimate objects. Got this bright, shiny new computer recently that I refused to plug in for several days after delivery because it seemed unfair to the old, slightly rickety […]

Bad Call

If all I did was watch SNY (and it’s close), I’d have no problem picking a Mets MVP for 2006.

Clearly, it’s Dave Magadan. Every time I turn this channel on, there he is going 3-for-4. He’s gotta be 21-for-28 by now. And the Mets are on the verge of clinching of the National League East […]

The 19th Pitch of the Inning

This afternoon Minnesota beat Oakland ten to four, Scott Baker bested Joe Kennedy, Michael Cuddyer homered for Minnesota, Mark Ellis for Oakland, so at the moment, the A’s two games behind the Angels in the American League West. Angels play tonight at home against Texas with John Lackey against Kameron Loe after Bartolo Colon picked […]

Salute to Baseball

I had planned to let you know to listen to Jonathan Schwartz’s show on WNYC-FM this afternoon. For 36 consecutive Super Bowl Sundays, Schwartz ran what he called a Salute to Baseball. Before there was sportstalk radio and downloadable files and Rhino Records, there was Schwartz spending one hour in the middle of football overload […]

Gary to Snigh? (Sigh)

My radio antenna is at half-mast today. If it results in static, so what? It’s not like there’s anything to listen to.

Gary Cohen is leaving the WFAN booth. There go 162 reasons to keep living.

That SportsNet New York has tabbed him the television voice of the Mets merely cushions the blow — assuming Cablevision actually […]

Our Voices For All Seasons

You can’t take a picture of this. It’s already gone.
—Nate Fisher

This year’s Nikon Camera players of the year are Gary Cohen and Howie Rose. At the end of the season, the players of the year will have their efforts lovingly admired by this blog.

It was no contest. If they’re doing their jobs well, the radio […]
